Description

Description

Your Italian adventure starts with a water taxi from Venice airport across the Venetian lagoon and down the Grand Canal, where you will find the wonderfully luxurious Bauer il Palazzo hotel. The hotel is just a stone’s throw from St Mark’s Square. By day you could visit the magnificent Doges’ Palace or admire the Tintorettos in the Scuola di San Rocco, then find your way to the market on the Rialto bridge. In the evening you could hop on a Gondola to glide down the waterways to wherever takes your fancy, or even enjoy an opera performance at the world famous La Fenice opera house. Venice, the pearl of the Adriatic, is, of course, the quintessential romantic destination, and the Bauer Il Palazzo is a magnificently luxurious base to enjoy it.

Next, spend a couple of days exploring the city of Florence, where the renaissance began. We are pleased to feature the JK Place, a welcoming boutique hotel right in the heart of the city, within walking distance of the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio, the medieval bridge famous for its jewellery stores. If you would rather be away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre, the luxurious Villa La Massa offers an oasis of calm within easy reach of the city on the opposite side of the river Arno.

Finally visit the Rome, the ’Eternal City’. Explore the the Baroque squares of the old town and the wonders of the Forum and Colosseum from the Villa Spalletti Trivelli. This small and friendly boutique hotel is located right in the heart of the city, in one of Italy’s most exclusive shopping areas between the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. All of the city’s major landmarks are within easy reach, from the Vatican City to the monuments of ancient Rome. This itinerary would be suitable for a romantic honeymoon in some of the most beautiful hotels in these historic cities, or for culture vultures looking to retrace the steps of the ‘Grand Tour’ in style.

When to travel
Italy is an exciting place to visit at any time of the year, and most attractions are open all year round. The best time to visit is in May, early June, late September and October. Days during those months are usually warm, and quite long. July and August are hot and humid with many tourists. Since most Italians leave their hot cities in the summer, many restaurants are closed in the cities. Winter can get cold, particularly January but it is quiet. Temperatures are more favourable in the spring and autumn months.
