Donkey Riding

Description:
In the old days in villages throughout Cyprus, the people used to ride donkeys in order to go from one place to another. Donkeys were indispensable for transportation and companions to all kinds of village activities. Today the donkey is among the animal species threatened with extinction. We will take you to “Apesia” Hills where the Donkey farm is located, 16km from Limassol. On the way, you can enjoy the beautiful views of the hills, and Cyprus unspoiled countryside. On arrival, in the village square we will see the interesting “Tremithos”, a huge tree over 1500 years old. We will also stop for a short visit inside the small church of St. Andrew. On the mini farm next to the donkeys, you can enjoy the goats, chickens and when in season, also the baby donkeys. Have great fun riding your donkey along the trail in the natural hillside environment and in the fresh air of the country. After the riding, you can relax a while in the bar area where a complimentary drink will be offered to you. There is also a swimming pool where you can cool off on a hot summer day. At the local souvenir shop you can find traditional home-made Cypriot pickles and jams, as well as honey.

Donkey Riding & Caledonia Waterfalls - Jeep Safari

Description:
Wear flat shoes for riding and some walking – Donkey riding for around 30 minutes

Passing by the village of Mathikoloni, with splendid views of Germasogeia Dam and Limassol, we travel through the beautiful countryside and villages heading to Apesia Hills and the donkey farm. The donkey farm is situated in one of the most unspoiled and natural areas in Cyprus. As well as having great fun and laughter riding your donkey, you will also enjoy the fresh air and hillside views. At the Apesia village square, we will see the interesting “Tremithos”, a huge tree over 1,500 years old. We will continue our exploration with a 7km off-road exciting drive from Kapileio village. With magnificent panoramic views and also of the vineyards which are famous in this area for producing high quality Commandaria sweet wine and Zivania. By the church of Panagia Valana we arrive at our next stop the village of Laneia. We will spend some time to discover this picturesque village with its flower-lined streets and stone houses. We will also visit an ancient and authentic Linos, a wine press used for making commandaria. We continue our drive to the Troodos Mountains and we will walk to one of the highest waterfalls in Cyprus Kalidonia Waterfalls, with a height of 12 meters. It is surrounded by forest in a very beautiful area with breathtaking views. In this natural environment you can see many species of the local plant-life. You can feel and smell the fresh mountain air. The name of Kalidonia falls comes from the swallow birds who sing there during spring and summer months. At the next stop Kapileio we will walk around this traditional village and visit the local church. At the converted old school, we will stop for the lunch break. Here you can taste the home-made Cyprus meze (big selection of local dishes), accompanied by the local wine, at the price of euro 12.- for adults and euro 6.- for the children (2-12 years). Lunch is optional. Returning to Limassol, we will stop at the Organic Olive Oil Press, for an interesting look at how the olive oil is locally produced still today. There are also produced traditional delicacies almond sweet, siousiouko, Mediterranean medlar jam, etc. This safari is an excellent combination of excitement and lovely experience of true Cypriot mountain village life.

Excursion Ayia Napa (Swimming)

Description:
Our first stop at Cape Greko (Greco) is at the southern end of Famagusta Bay. It is a natural beauty spot and in 1993 it was designated as a National Forest Park. From the high points on the cliff you can view amazing sights out to sea. Cape Greko famous for its caves and one of the most clear sea water places in Cyprus. Here we will stop for swimming and to explore the caves.

According to local legend it is also the home of the Agia Napa sea monster claimed to inhabit the coast.

Our main stop is in Agia Napa. Take your time to relax and enjoy the best known beach town in Cyprus, tourists from all over the world come here.

We will stop for swimming in the beautiful golden sand and longest beach Limanaki, spend the time at your leisure and you can also visit the popular village square.

Excursion Grand Tour - Lefkara - Kykkos - Troodos

Description:
Our first stop is at Lefkara Village It is located on the southern slopes of the Troodos Mountains in the Larnaca District, next to the main Nicosia-Limassol highway. It features picturesque views. There you will have time to visit a traditional silver handicraft shop

We take a beautiful countryside drive passing by the village of Kornos and the agricultural village of Peristerona known for its citrus fruits, olives and almonds. Arriving at the Village of ‘Astromeritis’ we will stop for a coffee break.

Next stop is Kykkos Byzantine monastery which is the largest and wealthiest monastery situated in the Troodos (biggest mountain range of Cyprus), located in the centre of the island. The monastery is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and there you will see one of the three surviving icons painted by the Apostle Luke. You can enjoy the museum, located within the monastery grounds, which houses an impressive collection of icons, woodcarvings and manuscripts, and other Cypriot antiquities.

Continuing on, the trip will take you to the highest peak of Cyprus island – Mount Olympus(1951 m), where you will have a possibility to widely observe green valleys, mountain slopes, vineyards, forests, and small villages. From this viewpoint also the capital of Cyprus – Nicosia and a Morfou Bay can be seen.

After the highest peak we will pass by Troodos Square and then arrive in the village of Platres where you will have a chance to taste home cooked meat ‘Meze’ at the price of euro 13 for adults and euro 7 for children, including village wine or a soft drink. Or you can order a meal/snack from the menu. Lunch is optional and payable on the spot.

Next stop will bring you to the traditional and picturesque Cypriot village called Omodos, where you can visit Timios Stavros Monastery of the Holy Cross. In Omodos also a Museum of oldest wine press is located. There you can taste different types of local wine and get to know, what is Commandaria and Zivania. Local people assert that here produces one of the best wines on the island.

Returning to Lemesos (Limassol) you will pass by many hillsides and enjoy the view of the Cyprus countryside with vineyards and cherry/citrus fruit and nut trees.

Excursion Kerynia - Famagusta

Description:
Ghost Town – Varosha Famagusta We pass by the English Sovereign Base Area of Ayios Nicolaous and arrive at the view point of the “Ghost Town” of the Varosha section of the town of Famagusta. The tow, before the Turkish invasion, was one of the world’s best known tourist resorts with its golden sand beaches and modern architecture in this Varosha area. The placed has been fenced off by the Turkish army and still today. The Greek Cypriots are not allowed to return and journalists are banned. This “Ghost Town” is frozen in time with the shops and hotels empty but still fully equipped.

Old Town Famagusta:
Walking around the old town of Famagusta, we can see the wall of the city and the Othello Tower and Saint Nicolas Gothic Church which is now a mosque.

Bellapais Abbey:
Next stop is Bellapais Abbey of 14th century, which is regarded as a masterpiece of Gothic art and also an architectural monument of world’s importance.

Kerynia Then we shall drive to the town of Kerynia with its snow-white houses between archways which open on to narrow streets – it resembles a coastal town in the south of France. Further we will visit Kerynia castle, where you can observe the impact of many different historical periods – Byzantine, Lusignan and Venetian as well as enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the old harbour near which the castle is situated. Inside the castle is located also a museum, which contains the original cargo and equipment from the ancient ship of Kerynia. A merchant ship dating from 300 BC, raised from the sea bed of the Mediterranean near Kerynia castle. The ship is probably the earliest trading vessel yet discovered. Time will be given for lunch or to explore further.

St Hilarion:
St. Hilarion castle, which is one of the most interesting places in Cyprus because of its rich history, panoramic view and mysterious architecture. St. Hilarion castle is built on the top of Pentadaktylos mountain range overlooking Kerynia.

Passing by the Capital Nicosia and the Green Line we will return to Limassol.

Excursion Lefkosia (NICOSIA) Larnaka

We arrive at the Capital City of Lefkosia (Nicosia), where we shall visit:

Archbishop Palace:
Built in the early fifties and much fighting took place there during the invasion of 1974, when it came close to being completely destroyed. Rebuilt in the eighties, the Archbishop’s Palace is once again a grand building and particularly to see the bust of Archbishop Kyprianos outside, a religious leader executed by the Turks in the 1820s.

St John’s Cathedral (Ayios Ioannis) was built in 1665 within the courtyard of the archiepiscopal palace. Look for the 18th-century murals illustrating important moments in Cypriot religious history and including a depiction of the tomb of St. Barnabas.

Laiki Geitonia (shopping) traditional neighbourhood houses with narrow winding streets and craft shops. It is a very popular area for both locals and tourists and there are many cafes in the area during free time.

Ledras Street (Shopping area):
The most lively part of the old city with narrow streets, boutiques. View Point Shacolas Building (11th floor)

Take your passports with you and you can cross over (optional) between the Cypriot southern and northern Turkish occupied parts of Cyprus which barrier has been opened since April 2008

Finikoudes Promenade (Larnaca Waterfront) Here is the famous Palm Tree lined seafront with many cafes and restaurants. Bring your swimming gear and towel for a refreshing swim in this popular beach front.

Larnaka Ayios Lazaros church:
The magnificent church was built by Emperor Leo Vl, in the 9th century. Restoration was carried out in the 17th century, keeping faithfully to the original plan, and the church can be called one of the finest examples of Byzantine architecture. The tomb of Lazaros, who after he was raised from the dead in Bethany by Christ, came to Cyprus and lived here for another thirty years and was consecrated as the Bishop of Kition by St. Barnabas and St. Mark, can be seen uner the sanctuary

Excursion Pafos - Kourion

We will visit firstly the ancient city of Kourion and the most spectacular site is the Greco-Roman theatre, that has been completely restored and is used today for open air musical and theatrical performances. See the private houses of the late roman period with fascinating mosaics.

Aphrodite’s Rock where you can enjoy swimming (bring a towel with you) in the beautiful sea where the Goddess of Love and Beauty was born. Rumor has it that to swim around the rock brings good luck.

Pafos town which was the ancient capital city of Cyprus.

Catacombs of St. Solomoni You can walk through the catacombs and inside the caves and chambers.

The Pillar of St. Paul were he was bound and lashed as a punishment for preaching Christianity before he managed to convert the Roman governor to Christianity.

From the old port area the Venetian fort, you will have free time to discover nearby :
Archaeological city (explore the house of Dionysus, Roman villa, floor mosaics)

Cyprus was under the Roman command 2000 years ago their villas decorated with mosaic floors are considered to be the finest not only in the Mediterranean area but in the whole world, as the Paphos mosaics are very well preserved.

Avakas Gorge:

Lara Bay:
Well known as the breeding ground of the famous Green Turtles of the Mediterranean. Beautiful views of the bay, and information stands regarding the turtles.

Baths of Aphrodite:
Hidden among the lush vegetation, this is where the Goddess of love bathed with her lover, Adonis. Don`t forget to wash your face at the source of rejuvenation and next day you will wake up 10 years younger.

Latchi:
Picturesque fishing port. Relax and enjoy the fun! We will stop at a traditional Cypriot tavern which is situated on the beautiful beach of Latchi. Mount Olympus:
The highest peak on the island at 1950 meters. Spectacular view.

Mountain Villages - Troodoskakopetria

Leaving Limassol we drive through the new village of Mathikoloni, the old village was abandoned due to earthquake. With views on the right side of Germasogeia Dam, Akrotiri English bases and the salt lake. In the beautiful evergreen forest area of Agia Paraskevi our first stop is at the small church.

We continue passing through the unspoiled and pretty mountain villages surrounded by pine, olive, apple trees and grape vines, to one of the most traditional villages in Cyprus Agros Village. We will stop at the village square and visit the church of ‘’Panagia Eleousa’’. We will also visit the delicious Niki Sweets and you can see how the natural sweets and jams are made. Take a walk down to the famous Rose factory where excellent Rose Water and beauty products are made using the traditional methods. We will visit one of the local wineries, where wine has been made for thousands of years, handed down from father to son for many generations. Enjoy tasting the delicious Cyprus wines.

Church of Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis (St. Nicholas of the Roof): It is the only surviving catholicon (monastery church) of an 11th century Byzantine monastery in Cyprus. The interior of the church is decorated with vivid and bright frescoes belonging to various periods, which cover a time span of over 900 years. It’s amazing to see this entirely painted church, and how well the frescoes have survived, especially a fresco of the Virgin Mary breastfeeding the baby Jesus (the only mural of its kind on the island). In 1985 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

We continue our ride through the forests to arrive at Kakopedtria village. We will enjoy a lovely walk in the old part of the village ‘’Palia Kakopetria’’ through the narrow streets and see the traditional stone houses of the area. We will stop for lunch in one of the village restaurants where you can try home cooked dishes or order a snack from the menu. Lunch is optional. There will also be free time to explore this interesting village.

You will also have the opportunity to visit one of the largest waterfalls on the island Milomery Waterfalls. Experience the cool spring waters and luscious vegetation surroundings. Returning to Limassol we pass by the hillsides and view the Cyprus countryside with many vineyards, cherry / citrus fruit and nut trees.
