A trip along the Romantic Road

Along the Romantic Road we first reach Harburg, one of the oldest, biggest and best preserved castles of Southern Germany, which was first mentioned end of the 11. century. Through the Swabian crater landscape passing Dinkelsbühl we arrive in Rothenburg, the most perfectly preserved medieval town in Europe. Time for sightseeing, lunch and shopping. Via the Hallertau, the world largest hop-growing area we return to Munich.

City sightseeing The Third Reich

Join us on this combined bus and walking tour to those historically significant locations which were important for the origins of National Socialism as well as the German resistance movement. No other city is as closely tied to the beginnings and rise of National Socialism as Munich. The NSDAP or Nazi Party was founded here in 1920 and quickly gained widespread popularity. At the same time, some few brave individuals recognized the dangers of National Socialism and began to fight against it. One of the most famous resistance groups was the “White Rose” in Munich.

Day trip Bavaria Berchtesgaden and Eagle's Nest

After a scenic drive along the German Alpine Road through impressive valleys, we reach Berchtesgaden. Once up on the Obersalzberg mountain, you have the opportunity to visit the NS-Documentation Center (admission not included). A special bus and an elevator tunneled straight through rock then bring you up to the Eagle‘s Nest (usually open by the middle of May), built by the Nazi party for Hitler‘s 50th birthday. In the event of bad weather conditions such as snow, ice or fog, the tour will take you to the famous Berchtesgaden salt mine instead.

Driving through the village of Dachau we reach the former concentration camp. Plenty of time to visit the memorial site, the museum and the documentary film. This tour is guiding you along some of bavaria’s most beautiful lakes, through the Karwendel-mountains to Innsbruck, city of the “golden roof” in Austria. Day Trip Bavaria Linderhof

Two of the most precious jewels of Bavaria can be seen during this excursion. The dream castle Linderhof built by King Ludwig II in French rococo style with its fantastic grotto and the moorish pavillon can be visited during our two hours stay; lunch. We travel on to Oberammergau, world-famous for its Passion Plays, the woodcarvers and the richly painted houses (Lüftl-paintings). Time for sightseeing, shopping and a coffee break.

Day trip Bavaria Nuremberg

Nuremberg – the name brings to mind emperors and medieval councils, the Reformation and Albrecht Dürer, but at the same time reminds us of Nazi party rallies and the Nuremberg trials. The historic old town with its mighty castle and city walls, its many churches, monuments and picturesque half-timbered houses still show the glamour of the old imperial city. The Nazis also erected monumental structures there that to this day show the megalomania of Hitler and the leaders of the “Third Reich”. The Documentation Center provides a comprehensive insight into this dark era of German history.

Day trip Bavaria Salzburg and Lake District

Driving south towards Austria, we pass Bavaria´s largest lake, the Chiemsee. In Salzburg, the city of Mozart, there is enough time for shopping and sightseeing on your own in the picturesque old town. Afterwards we drive through the scenic Lake District where the Sound of Music movie was filmed to the town of St. Wolfgang with the famous White Horse Inn. Then a one-way boat ride on Lake Wolfgang takes us to our bus waiting for us on the other side of the lake for our drive back to Munich.

Day trip Bavaria The Royal Castle of Herrenchiemsee

On the largest of the Bavarian lakes, Chiemsee, we take a boat ride to the Herreninsel. Here you visit Ludwig’s II. castle, a replica of the palace of Versailles. We continue by boat to Fraueninsel. Time to visit the Benedictine church and a walk on the island.

After visiting Ettal Monastery, we drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and on to Eibsee where we take the cablecar to the summit of the Zugspitze (9.788 ft.). On a clear day you can see over a thousand Bavarian, Austrian, Swiss and Italian mountain peaks. Descent by cogwheel train.
