It boasts a mild Mediterranean climate with sunny summers and moderate winters, well-preserved natural landscape that make it a haven for cyclists and hikers, and a history rich in Croatian traditions, culture, and history.

Itinerary

Daily Program: Guided

Day 1: Arrival in Zagreb/Pleso, transfer to Samobor (9 miles/ 15 km)
Transfer from Zagreb/Pleso airport to Samobor, where you will check-in to your accommodation. Take a short bicycle tour of the town of Samobor, its history, and Vugrinšcak Park. You will attend a brief meeting consisting of an overview of the complete tour, followed by dinner.

Day 2: Samobor – Anindol Valley – Samobor (22 miles/35 km)
After breakfast, we will visit the Samobor museum, and then ride to Rude village, where we will visit to “Barbara” mine. Then we’ll cycle on to Plješivica and enjoy lunch at Prekrižje Plješivicko resort.

After lunch, we’ll continue to village Manja Vas and visit to the botanical garden “Suban”. We will then ride to Anindol valley, where the views from Anindol point are incomparable. Along the way back, we’ll take a short tour of St. Lenard and St. Ana churches and ruins of the old city of Samobor. Upon our return to Samobor, you’ll have some free time to explore on your own.

Day 3: Samobor – Eko selo – Samobor (31 miles/50 km)
After breakfast, we’ll cycle from Samobor to Slani dol (Salty valley) village and take a short break here. We’ll ride to Vratnik, descend on Gradnjci, and arrive at Divlje vode (wild waters) and nature park. We’ll continue to Eko selo (Eco village), where we’ll lunch, then return to Samobor with some free time leftover.

Day 4: Samobor – Budinjak – Samobor (37 miles/60 km)
After breakfast, we’ll head out on our bikes to Bregana and Grdanjci village and enter into the Zumberak nature park. We’ll ascend to village Stojdraga, where a we’ll take a well-deserved break. From here, we’ll ride through Poklek and Novo selo žumberacko on our way to Budinjak for lunch. Here, we’ll walk the “Trail of the Princess” in and then ride back to Samobor, where again you’ll have the evening to discover the beauty of Samobor.

Day 5: Samobor – Desinic (37 miles/ 60 km)
After breakfast, we’ll pedal from Samobor to Bregana and cross the border into Slovenia. We’ll continue to Mokrice, where a beautiful castle awaits. Then we’ll cycle through Brežice and the Bizeljsko region. We’ll visit a local wine cellar and enjoy lunch.

We’ll then drive along the Sutla river on Slovenian side, crossing border back into Croatia, and arrive in Kumrovec, the birth place of Josip Broz Tito (aka. Marshal Tito). We’ll tour the ethnically rich Kumrovec and then visit the Marshal Tito Memorial Museum. We’ll head to Desinic, where we’ll stay in a rural tourist household, “Trsek”.

Day 6: Desinic – Samobor (40 miles/65 km)
After breakfast, we’ll ride through Desinic to the castle Veliki tabor, which has a museum. Today’s journey is thankfully downhill to Miljana and Kumrovec, where we’ll lunch in the restaurant Zelengaj. We’ll continue on to Klanjec, driving along the Sutla river on Croatia side to town of Zaprecic, where we’ll take a short break. When we come to the Sava river, we’ll cross on a ferry to Samobor.

Day 7: Departure
After breakfast, we’ll sample coffee & cake at the Samobor main square, then enjoy a presentation of pictures and moments during tour. We’ll then transfer you to the Zagreb/Pleso airport for your onward travels.

The bikes will have FLAT pedals. If you want to bring your own pedals, be sure to bring your own shoes and also the necessary equipment to change the pedals.

Helmets are available for rent on this tour. However, we recommend that you bring your own helmet for safety and hygiene purposes.
