Latvia is a country on the Baltic Sea between Lithuania and Estonia known for its strong national identity, diverse culture, modern cities and landscapes ranging from wide beaches to dense, sprawling forests. Latvia’s capital is Riga, home to museums and churches, notable wooden and art nouveau architecture, a vast Central Market and a medieval Old Town.

Riga The capital of Latvia, is the pearl both of Latvia and the whole of the Baltics. Riga is included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage list. It is located in the central part of the country, on the south coast of the Gulf of Riga, at the mouth of our largest river, the Daugava. Riga is home for more than 700,000 inhabitants and is the largest city in the Baltic States.Riga is also known as the pearl of architecture – a city in which one can see together in one place churches that were built at the city’s very origin, the medieval buildings of the Old Town, plus unique Art Nouveau examples, as well as wooden architecture which has survived for centuries. 

Cesis In Cesis, history meets modernity, which makes it especially. It is one of the oldest towns in Latvia, the former Livonian Master’s residence, and a member of the old Hanseatic League. This ancient town has not lost its magic over time. Cesis is situated in the northern part of the Vidzeme Heights, next to the Gauja National Park. Therefore it is surrounded by woods and amazing natural scenery. The River Gauja with its rocky banks passes by Cesis and the town is close to lowlands that are rich in lakes.It is only 90km from Riga – less than two hours away on a coach. There are also railway connections between Cesis and Riga and Valga in Estonia.

Daugavpils It is situated in the south-east of Latvia, 232km from Riga. It is only 25km from Lithuania and 35km from Belarus. The town is divided in half by the River Daugava and is surrounded by woods and cultivated land. 

Jurmala is the only official resort in Latvia. It is also only 15km from Riga International Airport and 25km from the capital of Latvia, Riga. The resort of Jurmala is well known for its natural resources, its mild climate, the sea, its healthy air, and the curative mud and mineral waters. It fascinates with its white sandy beach that is almost 26km long and its spacious pine forests with modern recreation and resort options. There are a lot of activities in each of the four seasons and at any time of the year for every visitor to the city, such as art exhibitions, local and international concerts, and many other events.

Kuldiga If you enjoy the aura and charm of a medieval town, and the opportunity to participate in cultural events that you will not find anywhere else, Kuldiga is the perfect place in which to spend a romantic holiday. Kuldīga has always fascinated and attracted people, like a beautiful woman capturing one’s full attention. Painters compare it to a wonderful picture which you would love to be able to own.

Liepaja is also known as the city of wind. The wind blows over the blue waves of the sea, over the the port, the modern architecture and centuries of history to continue on its way all through Latvia.Liepaja is the third largest city in Latvia in terms of population. It is a regional centre, home to Liepaja University, a theatre, and other cultural and tourist attractions. Liepaja is a place to enjoy art, music and beach activities.

Valmiera, the northern gateway to Gauja National Park, delights visitors with its beautiful nature and its cultural and historic monuments, along with hosting interesting cultural and sporting events, and providing breathtaking stories and legends.
